Digging Drainage

After a bit of rain a week or so ago, the soil is perfect for digging, not too dry and hard, and not heavy with moisture. So given that rain is in the forecast for Monday, I decided I'd best work at clearing out the drainage ditch behind my house. It's not deep, just enough to carry off the moisture draining down the hill so it doesn't run against the foundation. But over the last couple years it has filled in. It's a pleasant autumn task, simple, mindless, and I can listen to the chickadees chatter.

Even after awhile, you might be able to find it there, by clicking the "previous collection" button on the Artfire front page. That cycles through 20 collections, which is very cool.

Getting Ready for Winter

I really want to include more in this blog than just posting collections I'm in on ArtFire! It's such a busy time, getting ready for what I hope will be good holiday sales. Plus I need to take advantage of the fine weather before the winter rains start. So I finally finished mowing all my acres, but still have firewood to split and stack, though it's mostly done. Also very important is to clear the ditch by the road before it rains, a bit of a problem since my back has been complaining.
